"Gary Dee Attends His Own Funeral" was broadcast the last week of March 1974. Now, 40 years after it aired, the show has such deep impact and even more meaning than it did in 1974. This is a story that is humorous, thought-provoking, and serious at times. Nobody suspected what Gary Dee had in mind throughout this series of programs. This story has an ending with a twist, but I won't spoil it for you. Gary Dee Attends His Own Funeral (Pt2) “Sinners standing by” at 578-1300! The rest of you can go to Hell! (A pause for news) Gary states, the end will be this Friday. Put Jesus in your heart!! Gary takes some calls from listeners. Gary recalls his beginnings as a sharecropper’s son in the burning sands of the Red River bottoms of Hempstead County Arkansas! Where that January 13th morning (Gary’s birthday) a star was in the sky. Gary asks listeners, “are you ready to meet Jesus”! A caller offers to be a pallbearer. Gary says they will select 6 pallbearers tomorrow. A caller suggests that Gary should have a navel burial in Lake Erie. A caller asks Gary if he would like a priest from the church of Satan to officiate. Gary says yes! A first time caller has 40 mules to carry Gary’s casket. They are a bunch of Jack Asses! A caller reminds listeners that Easter Lilies are blooming. A commercial for The Cleveland Press newspaper, then a Suits Incorporated commercial is next. Gary recalls (tongue firmly in cheek) his mother would call him from the front porch, Gaaary, Gaary Deee! Are you out with Viola again!! Calls from listeners! A caller tells Gary to take Merle Pollis with him. G+ ary kicks into high gear as he testifies, “get ready to meet Jesus”! WERE People power promo. Gary is ready to meet Jesus! He has a pain in his chest from trying to save listeners. Taking more calls from ingenious listeners. Gary then gives some specifics regarding how his funeral will play out on Friday morning.
